Iron Types

Expert Iron Casting Solutions for Every Application
At Willman Industries, we work with a variety of high-quality iron types to produce precision castings tailored to your specific needs. Each iron type offers unique mechanical and metallurgical properties, making it ideal for different industrial applications. Our engineering team can help you select the best iron type for strength, durability, and performance in your application.
Grey Iron
Grey iron, including ASTM and Meehanite grades, is widely used for its excellent compressive strength, wear resistance, and vibration damping.
- Classes available: Class 20/GE20 through Class 55/GM60
- All Meehanite cast iron grades
Ideal for machinery bases, pump housings, valve bodies, and automotive components
Ductile Iron
Ductile iron (ASTM and Meehanite) offers superior strength, toughness, and elongation, making it suitable for high-stress applications.
- Grades include 60-40-18 (A536/SF60)
- 65-45-12 (A536/SF60)
- 80-55-06 (A536/SP80)
- 100-70-03 (A536/SH100)
- 120-90-02 (A536 Q&T)
Used for gears, housings, pumps, valves, and off-road equipment components
High Silicon Molybdenum (HSM)
Our HSM ductile irons are engineered for wear resistance and high-temperature applications.
- Custom solutions for industrial machinery, pumps, and high-performance components
- Available in all grades
Solution Strengthened Ductile Iron
Our proprietary solution-strengthened ductile iron offers high strength and high elongation as cast.
- Grades include 75-55-21
- 80-60-18
- 90-65-15
Designed for structural and heavy-duty industrial applications
Austempered Ductile Iron (ADI)
ADI provides high strength, high toughness, and excellent fatigue resistance.
- All grades available
- Ideal for applications requiring high-performance wear and impact resistance
Used in construction, mining, and automotive components
